The executive decision was issued by His Excellency the President of the University in the month of Dhu al-Qi'dah 1439 AH to amend the name of the Deanship of E-Learning to the Deanship of E-Learning and Information Technology. In the same month, a decision was issued to include the Information Technology Center of the Deanship of E-Learning and Information Technology, which was previously approved by the University Council by Resolution No. 391633990 and the date 7/18/1439 AH, and since this deanship is one of the most important supportive deanships at the university, as it provides services to all administrative and academic sectors of the university. Thus, it became necessary to restructure the deanship and define the tasks for each agency or department in the deanship. During the work on this formation, the current situation and available capabilities were taken into consideration, as well as prior work with the capabilities and experiences of all employees of the Deanship and the future expansion.

Vice Deanship of e-Learning

About

The vice deanship of e-Learning works in accordance with the university vision, mission and strategies in order to provide a hosting environment for teaching and learning activities while exploiting advanced ICT technologies. All with an aim of enhancing the educational process (input, processing, output), controlling its quality and facilitating its management.

Tasks

  • Initiate and develop e-learning culture.
  • Build e-Learning infrastructure that attract and support students and faculties.
  • Provide the required support for faculty members to build and develop online course.
  • Train faculty members to use and utilize e-learning tools.
  • Promote the eLearning Culture and the adoption of a new lifestyle in teaching and learning utilizing modern technologies.
  • Update the basic eLearning environment and establish data supported decision making through eLearning analytics.
  • Quality course design and development establishing for standardized work and stable traditions towards wide adoption.
  • Maintain LMS and Labs.

Department of E-Learning Planning Content Development

Department of Educational Content

About

This department is concerned with training faculty members in developing electronic courses in accordance with international standards, and supervising all phases of development and teaching of the resulting courses according to scheduled time plans.

Tasks

  • Draw up a timetable for developing the educational content of the university's courses in various colleges.
  • Preparing appropriate plans for e-courses programs, scheduling them, and following up on their implementation and evaluation.
  • Managing electronic courses and following up on their development and teaching in accordance with international quality standards.
  • Emphasizing the necessity of diversifying the educational content of e-courses and assisting participants in achieving this.
  • Follow up the progress and outputs of work in building academic courses according to the drawn time plans.
  • Periodic follow-up of performance indicators and preparation and submission of reports of achievement percentages.

Department of E-Learning Applications and LMS

Department of E-Learning LMS

About

This department is responsible for supervising the university’s e-learning management system, "Rafid", and providing an educational environment for faculty and students to interact in electronic courses and use their tools. It also provides technical support to beneficiaries by providing educational evidence and solving technical problems.

Tasks

  • Ensuring the continuity of the e-learning management system, "Rafid".

  • Providing technical support for users of the learning management system "Rafid", including faculty members, students and employees.

  • Solving the issues of dealing with the e-learning system "Rafid" for all users.

  • Improving and developing e-learning systems.

  • Supervising and assisting in archiving and backup courses.

  • Raising awareness of the use of the e-learning system "Rafid", by issuing a number of guides, which vary between explanations, videos, illustrations, and others.

  • Accessing in detail the work of the initiatives and indicating the tools that can be used from the e-learning system, activating them, and setting the necessary procedures for them

  • Training of university employees on the system.

Department of E-Learning Logistics

Department of E-Learning Logistics and Training

About

This department is concerned with identifying the university's training needs in the field of e-learning and providing them by organizing and holding training workshops for faculty members and students. It also supervises the processing of e-learning laboratories and organizes their reservation to perform electronic tests or training workshops and other services.

Tasks

  • Promoting the e-learning culture and its programs among the faculty and students at the university.
  • Providing e-learning labs for stakeholders.
  • Organizing and managing the reservations process for laboratories.
  • Holding training courses based on the needs of the university and its employees.
  • Holding workshops for faculty members and students about e-learning, its importance and role in the educational process, how to apply it, and the skills required to enter this system.
  • Evaluating the extent of benefit from the training programs provided, and prepare reports and submit them to the Deanship and the relevant authorities.
