The College of Medicine at Al-Baha University is one of the colleges of Al-Baha University in the university city of Al-Aqiq province in Al-Baha region. The college was established in 1429 AH corresponding to 2008, and teaching medical students started at the beginning of the academic year 1430/1431 AH. in 1436 AH the female student's section was opened. The leadership of Al-Baha University was keen to establish a medical college with excellence not only locally and regionally but also globally, and from this standpoint, the college worked on the applying a modern system, which has not been applied in many medical colleges in the Kingdom, which is the (Integrated system), where the same subject is studied again at a later stage, which provides a great opportunity to fully absorb the subject. The University Hospital is currently under construction.

The Vice Deanship for Academic Affairs operates at the second level of the college’s organizational structure under the supervision of the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine. The Vice Deanship for Academic Affairs is the cornerstone in providing a pioneer academic and educational environment for the faculty members and the students.

Praise be to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon his prophet Mohammed, and upon our prophet’s family and his companions.

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the webpage of the Vice Deanship of the College of Medicine for Academic Affairs, hoping this webpage supports our role and goal to provide information and contact for our services including development of the educational process and academic aspects of our college.

Our inspirational leadership keen to support every aspect of our country development and especially the educational process generously to achieve the highest quality standards in the educational environment. And we here in the deanship work with every faculty member to achieve our college vision to be an innovative and leading college and we work collaboratively to achieve college mission to graduate competent physician contributing to scientific research and promoting health care service in our beloved country.

In the Vice-Deanship, we are keen to serve our students in accordance with the university’s policies and strategies, and we implement quality standards and develop it so that the college’s outputs are competitive and harmonious to achieve the Kingdom’s 2030 vision.

Goals

  • Periodic review of the academic curriculum and work to raise the educational process quality.
  • Giving students the opportunity for educational attainment.
  • Cooperation with international medical expertise in the benefit of our students and college.
  • Enhancing our student learning experience academically and professionally.
  • Encouraging students to engage in scientific research and participate in internal and external conferences.

Tasks

  • Welcoming new students at the college and providing advice and guidance to them.
  • Coordinating classrooms and providing the appropriate educational environment.
  • Ensure that the classrooms are equipped with projectors, blackboards, and AV helping device.
  • Helping students register courses and resolve any conflicts that occur to any student as well as deleting and adding courses
  • Communicate with departments to identify and confirm lists of course coordinators.
  • Facilitating communication between students and course coordinators.
  • Issuance of circulars received from the Deanship of the departments.
  • Follow up on entering the results into the system with the course coordinators.
  • Academic follow-up of students and offering help for troubled students.
  • Studying cases of absence and medical and social excuses and finding solutions to them
  • Reporting to the Deanship of Admission and Registration regarding students who are deprived of sitting for exams
  • Exam preparation and preparation
  • Responding to inquiries from third parties regarding interruptions or repetitions during the student's studies
  • Responding to inquiries from faculty members and coordinating with the Personnel Department to finalize all procedures related to the faculty member.

Academic Affairs Committee

  • Study and equivalency of courses for students transferred from another college inside or outside Al-Baha University and transfer them to the Dean of the College.
  • A study of cases of deprivation transferred from the college administration.
  • Reviewing, auditing, and keeping alumni files.
  • Studying sick-leaves students and those absent from exams and transferring them the Dean of the College.
  • Verifying cases of cheating among students transferred from the college administration and raising them to the Dean.
  • Studying and expressing opinion on any issues referred to the committee by the dean of the college.

Academic Guidance Committee

  • Developing and supervising the academic guidance plan for the college.
  • Promote awareness among students and faculty members about the importance of academic guidance and the best practice of it.
  • Distribute students to academic advisors and publish lists on bulletin boards and the college website at the beginning of each year.
  • Submitting periodically (middle of each semester) a report that includes the work of the committee as well as the levels of students to the college administration.
  • Looking into the students' academic problems that are raised by the academic advisors and seeking to solve them with the college administration.
  • Guiding creative students and supporting their creative ideas and projects.
  • Studying and expressing opinion on any issues referred to the committee by the dean of the college.
