Faculty of Medicine

The College of Medicine at Al-Baha University is one of the colleges of Al-Baha University in the university city of Al-Aqiq province in Al-Baha region. The college was established in 1429 AH corresponding to 2008, and teaching medical students started at the beginning of the academic year 1430/1431 AH. in 1436 AH the female student's section was opened. The leadership of Al-Baha University was keen to establish a medical college with excellence not only locally and regionally but also globally, and from this standpoint, the college worked on the applying a modern system, which has not been applied in many medical colleges in the Kingdom, which is the (Integrated system), where the same subject is studied again at a later stage, which provides a great opportunity to fully absorb the subject. The University Hospital is currently under construction.

About

At the Faculty of Medicine at Al-Baha University, we know that quality in education is based on four basic elements: the educational system and what it includes of the quality of teaching materials and methods, the teacher, the curricula, the administrative system supporting the educational system, the social system of the student and the teacher, and finally the techniques and tools produced by the culture of quality in the educational environment and its role in the process of continuous improvement. The vice deanship is also working hard and diligently to implement the highest standards of quality within the framework of its strategic plan, which is extracted from the university’s strategic plan, to be an effective partner in achieving the Kingdom’s 2030 vision.

The vice dean’s word

The activation of the College Vice Deanship for Quality and Development began with the establishment of the College and the start of the implementation of the study plan. The strategic goal of the vice deanship was to establish and consolidate the concept and methodology of total quality and academic development in the academic, research and administrative wings of the college, which leads to a distinct quality of outputs in education, scientific research and community service.

It also had a future plan to establish and apply qualitative practices to ensure and control quality in order to obtain national and then global academic accreditation.

Goals

  • Spreading the culture of academic development, total quality and academic accreditation among the college's employees.

  • Defining specifications, standards and indicators, providing references, guides, manuals, and supporting materials for quality assurance and continuous evaluation processes.

  • Training college employees on the application, improvement and development of total quality.

  • Starting to establish comprehensive quality assurance mechanisms and implement improvement and development processes at the college

  • Establishing a mechanism for improvement and development programs in academic and administrative processes

  • Reviewing external development plans to obtain national and then international academic accreditation for programs that met its requirements

  • Obtaining national and then global institutional academic accreditation for the College of Medicine

Tasks

  • Develop short and long-term plans for university development and raise the quality in the college.

  • Fulfilling the requirements and requirements of the National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Evaluation in the Kingdom and other international institutions that award accreditation and quality certificates.

  • Developing the means of measurement and evaluation, and the necessary levels of academic and administrative performance.

  • Contribute effectively to the administrative development of all units and departments of the college.

  • Preparing the necessary executive procedures to start self-evaluation of academic or administrative programs in light of national standards to prepare for academic accreditation.

  • Coordinating the development and improvement work in the academic or administrative departments, supervising their implementation, and following up the workflow.

  • Writing quarterly and annual reports on the progress of work in the academic and administrative departments and submitting them to the Dean of the College.

  • Carrying out a continuous evaluation of the performance of all employees of the college according to specific and codified standards, determining the paths of improvement and development, and proposing the necessary material and human improvement needs.

  • Develop and implement indicative programs to improve and develop work and to implement the general plan of the college, administrative unit or the supporting deanship.

  • Work to establish continuous work teams for improvement and development within each academic department or administrative unit.

  • Follow-up to update study programs, develop curricula and evaluation methods, follow-up, references, university books and various learning resources.

  • Participate in the description of programs and courses in light of national and international standards.

  • Suggesting workshops, courses and programs and following up on them with the implementing agencies assigned to them at the university.

  • Studying and expressing opinions on all official correspondence or studies referred to them related to their specific tasks.

  • Doing all that ensures improvement, development and access to academic accreditation for its employers, in the academic, administrative, material and human aspects.

  • Communicate with all faculty and staff members of the college, involve them in the development work, exchange opinions with them, and provide everything they need in order to raise the level of performance.

  • Studying the developmental training needs for the performance of the faculty’s affiliates and submitting them to the Dean of the Faculty for its implementation.

  • The committee handles all matters related to the development of medical education and the quality of examinations in the college.

Quality Unit and Academic Accreditation Committee:

Tasks

  • Drawing up general policies for quality assurance in the college and supervising their implementation.
  • Work to spread the culture of quality among the faculty’s employees, including students, administrative and technical staff.
  • Presenting and organizing workshops and lectures for the faculty’s employees to spread the culture and popularize the concept of quality and accreditation.
  • Participation in attending training workshops organized by the university or the National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Assessment to see the latest requirements for quality and academic accreditation.
  • Determining the specialized training needs of faculty members in the academic departments of the college and coordinating with the Deanship of University Development and quality in their implementation.
  • Preparing the distribution of questionnaires to students, assembling and analyzing them statistically, identifying strengths and weaknesses, recommendations and plans for improvement, and raising recommendations to the department council in light of the reports and the results of the results.
  • Preparing, filling out and updating course files.
  • Provide evidence and documents for standards.
  • Preparing files for the standards, documenting and arranging them according to the practices included.
  • Use standards investigation and measurement tools.
  • Planning and conducting a self-study and annual report for the program.
