The College of Medicine at Al-Baha University is one of the colleges of Al-Baha University in the university city of Al-Aqiq province in Al-Baha region. The college was established in 1429 AH corresponding to 2008, and teaching medical students started at the beginning of the academic year 1430/1431 AH. in 1436 AH the female student's section was opened. The leadership of Al-Baha University was keen to establish a medical college with excellence not only locally and regionally but also globally, and from this standpoint, the college worked on the applying a modern system, which has not been applied in many medical colleges in the Kingdom, which is the (Integrated system), where the same subject is studied again at a later stage, which provides a great opportunity to fully absorb the subject. The University Hospital is currently under construction.

About

The Department of Pharmacology is one of the basic sciences departments in Albaha Faculty of Medicine. It encompasses two specialties; Pharmacology, and Forensics Medicine and Toxicology.

 

The teaching philosophy of department adopt a problem solving approach in student-centered manner.

Pharmacology is taught in its three disciplines; Basic Bharmacology that, in a drug focused approach, negotiates drugs properties and their effects on living systems; Clinical Pharmacology that, in a disease focused approach, negotiates the treatment and/or prevention of diseases by use of drugs; and Therapeutics that, in a patient-centered approach, focuses on tailoring drug therapy according to individual patient needs.

Forensics Medicine and Toxicology is specialty concerned with determination of cause of death through examination of corpuses including the diagnosis of death, toxicology instantiations and professional issues of medico-legal importance such as medical ethics and medical errors.

The department revisits and revises its curricula, in collaboration with the other stakeholders, to achieve the requirements of the strategic plan.

Faculty of the Department of Pharmacology supervise and participate in student research, in the related disciplines, as part of their curriculum and as part of the requirements of the Saudi Medical Specialization Board for registration and promotion.

Faculty of the department participates in the clinical work in the University Medical Center and Ministry of Health hospitals in Albaha area, they also participate in improving community awareness of the rational use of drugs, in the prevention and treatment of disease, in a way that increases the benefit from drugs and decreases their side effects, and minimizes the overall healthcare costs. The department also participates in entertaining professional advice against the recreational use of drugs in the robust fight against their harmful medical, social and economic impact.

Faculty of the department participates with the students, faculty, University Medical Center and Ministry of Health in Al Baha area in the organization of scientific and social events concerned with the rational use of drugs and the fight against elicit drug use.
