Computer Programming 1

This course is a first course of computer programming using the C++ language. Students should have basic experience using a computer but no prior programming is required. Students learn about problem solving strategies, top-down program development and programming style. Topics include basic statements, control statements, decision, iterative control structures, functions, arrays, strings, introduction to classes and functions, handling exceptions and an introduction to OOP.

This course introduces students to object-oriented programming, which is the most widely used modern programming paradigm. Students enrolled in this course should master basic programming concepts and are ready to learn programming in-depth. The focuses of this course will be on practicing the object-oriented concepts and programming using Java. Main concepts discussed are: Class design, Objects, Data Abstraction, Data Encapsulation, Polymorphism, object interaction, abstraction, testing.
